The development of efficient and versatile catalytic system for one pot multicomponent reaction is an active ongoing research area for further improvement towards milder reaction conditions, N-bromosuccinimide (NBS) has been used an efficient catalyst for the synthesis of 5-unsubstituted-3,4-dihydropyrimidin-2-(1H)-ones at room temperature under solvent free conditions.
