GREEN APPROACH FOR THE EFFICIENT SYNTHESIS OF BIGINELLI COMPOUNDS PROMOTED BY CITRIC ACID UNDER SOLVENT-FREE CONDITIONS

Wide range of synthesis of 3,4-dihydropyrimidinones (Biginelli compounds) derived from divergent aldehydes, β-keto esters and urea or thiourea under solvent-free conditions was efficiently performed by citric acid (0.5 equiv.) at 80 0C with good to excellent yields.
